David Strom, Chief Financial Officer
David Strom is Chief Financial Officer of Whitecastle and he brings his considerable financial experience to each of the Whitecastle Funds. He has over 20 years of experience in finance, focusing primarily on real estate development. Since qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1988, David began working in the private sector for the Enterprise Group as an asset manager. In 1995, he joined the Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan, where he was responsible for the financial and account management of its $800 Million real estate portfolio. In 1999, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Falls Management Company, a private consortium selected to construct and operate the $1 Billion Niagara Fallsview Casino and Resort. The scope of his responsibility included accounting, budgeting, treasury, tax and shareholder relations. Following successful completion of the project, David later served on the company’s Board of Directors.
More recently, David was Chief Operating Officer for Shiplake Management Company, one of the shareholders of Falls Management Company. While at Shiplake, he had direct responsibility for the management of investment holdings on behalf of a private family. In this role, he initiated new investment strategies, which included the planning and development of a new $50 Million seniors’ residence in midtown Toronto.
